gujrat-myth and reality

I have travelled the length and breadth of Gujrat in the past few weeks. It is a total media fabrication that Gujrat is progressing. Infact Gujrat is going backwards. There is hardly any traffic on the highways and all along the highway there are only huge temples and grand hotels with no occupants or devotees.
The moment any vehicle enters Gujrat,it is followed discretely and its movements reported to some unknown authority. If one stops at any roadside dhaba( which are few) or any pan shop,a few illiterate youth immediately appear and listen to any conversation. This is reminiscent of the Nazi era in Germany.
The people of Gujrat are warm and friendly like anywhere else in India but they are under some fear. The atmosphere in Gujrat is totally unhealthy and sick. Liquor is freely available provided you have the right contacts. There is only one TV channel which is GTPL and shows only the speeches and interviews of NM.
There are no weddings or any public functions to be seen in Gujrat. One hardly hears any music or other entertainment performances anywhere in Gujrat. The Police are quite friendly and helpful but they have no say in matters of law and order.
Power in Gujrat has been diverted to industrial units belonging to Reliance,Tatas,Birlas and other huge empires. Agriculture is in total disarray and there are no irrigation facilities except the monsoons. Beyond Surat there was hardly any rainfall and the weather was extremely hot and humid.
There are huge skyscrapers in Baroda but are unoccupied. It is claimed that Mehsana has become another Shanghai but the fact is that it is a totally polluted and unhealthy place. The people of Gujrat prefer to come to Maharashtra in huge groups to escape the morbid atmosphere which prevails there.
Gujrat has enormous potential in agriculture but cannot progress because of retrogressive policies of the Government. It is obvious that a small group of vested intrests is controllling the destiny of Gujrat. If this is the M mode of development then God save India.
